Welcome

Please click below for the video welcome message.

Greetings brothers and sisters and welcome to the service this morning.

I trust that the Lord is going to connect with you and his word this morning. The rejoicing this morning, the worship this morning will be a blessing to you and an encouragement to you.

I'm privileged today to share some wonderful wonderful news with you. Callie and Chad and their family have booked their tickets to come to Zambia so they are due to arrive here on the 18th of this month, that's the 18th of February, arriving in Lusaka and this weekend we will be getting the keys to the house in Foxdale and very soon a notice will go out in regard to how we can help make them welcome, provide for them and give them the welcome they deserve as they come and start this new chapter of their lives in Zambia dedicated to LCC.

Isn’t that exciting and for us it’s a new chapter as well: the purpose the plan that the Lord has for the church and we're apart of that and it's really exciting. Many of us may have gone through difficult times and we may think that we’re in a difficult place and that may be true but God, His purpose for us has not changed and even in the difficult times He has purpose and He has meaning for us and so today I wanted us to to be reminded encourage to excited about the calling that God has on our lives so no matter we feel we are how we feel we are, He's got a plan and a purpose for us to show his generous nature to be a part of what he's doing and it's not just about Chad and their family, it's not just about the brothers and sisters around us but it's also about the community around us that we're involved in and we’re connected with.

God wants us to show his character to all the people around us and so want to share with you this morning from 2nd Corinthians chapter 8 verses 1 through 6

Now brothers and sisters we make known to the grace of God which has been given in the churches of Macedonia. That in a great ordeal of affliction, their abundance of Joy and a deep poverty overflowed in the wealth of their liberality. For I testify that according to their ability and even beyond their ability they gave voluntarily. They even begged us with much urging for the favour of participating in the support of the saints and this not as we had expected but they first gave themselves to the Lord and then to us by the will of God so we urged Titus that as he had previously made a beginning so he would also complete in you this gracious work as well.

Isn’t that amazing! Despite their poverty, despite their difficult circumstances they had a deep abundance of joy they gave voluntarily. First of all they gave themselves to the Lord and then they gave themselves to us. Isn’t this a wonderful picture folk. We're not limited by difficulty or poverty but rather in that is the opportunity to first of all give ourselves to the Lord,  to throw ourselves on his mercy and then He's the one with the purpose and the plan and the strength for us to offer ourselves to those around us in a sacrificial way. So I trust this morning this is an encouragement for you, exciting news for us and that the Lord makes it clear to each one of us what our purpose, what our calling is. What it is in we're going to bring to the table.

What is it that we're going to be giving. Is it time? is it is it energy? Is it something special? Is it a gift? Is it a talent? Is it love? Is it encouragement? Whatever it is: that the Lord has a calling on your life and it's special that we've got this new chapter in our lives about to begin. So may the Lord bless you and encourage you as we go into a time of worship.

Shall we pray.

Lord, we’re so thankful for the wonder of what You have done for us. Whether in the big picture, in the small picture, in every aspect of our lives. Thank you for the blessings that you've given us here in Zambia thank you for LCC, the church and we’re so thankful for Callie  and we’re so thankful for Chad, their children, we’re thankful for their love for Zambia, their passion, the calling on their lives that you've given them and Father we pray that as they come here, that they would be encouraged and excited and we look forward to Your blessing on your people as we go into the service, Lord that we would feel that sense of your presence and your calling on our lives the purpose and the privilege of being a part of your people amen. Let's celebrate together folk.

Prayer

1  Praise the Lord, my soul;
    all my inmost being, praise his holy name.
Praise the Lord, my soul,
    and forget not all his benefits—
who forgives all your sins
    and heals all your diseases,
who redeems your life from the pit
    and crowns you with love and compassion,
who satisfies your desires with good things
    so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

The Lord works righteousness
    and justice for all the oppressed.

He made known his ways to Moses,
    his deeds to the people of Israel:
The Lord is compassionate and gracious,
    slow to anger, abounding in love.
He will not always accuse,
    nor will he harbor his anger forever;
10 he does not treat us as our sins deserve
    or repay us according to our iniquities.
11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
    so great is his love for those who fear him;
12 as far as the east is from the west,
    so far has he removed our transgressions from us.

13 As a father has compassion on his children,
    so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him;
14 for he knows how we are formed,
    he remembers that we are dust.
15 The life of mortals is like grass,
    they flourish like a flower of the field;
16 the wind blows over it and it is gone,
    and its place remembers it no more.
17 But from everlasting to everlasting
    the Lord’s love is with those who fear him,
    and his righteousness with their children’s children—
18 with those who keep his covenant
    and remember to obey his precepts.

19 The Lord has established his throne in heaven,
    and his kingdom rules over all.

20 Praise the Lord, you his angels,
    you mighty ones who do his bidding,
    who obey his word.
21 Praise the Lord, all his heavenly hosts,
    you his servants who do his will.
22 Praise the Lord, all his works
    everywhere in his dominion.

Praise the Lord, my soul.
